JOHANN - STRAUSS - QUARTETT - WIEN

Four ambitious musicians, a surprising combination of instruments to hear playing traditional Viennese dance music: the JOHANN - STRAUSS - QUARTET - VIENNA. Nicolas Geremus, Eva-Maria Kabas, violine, Gerhard Kanzian, viola and Andreas Sohm, doublebass, all members of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and bringing wide experience from playing in other chamber music ensembles, initially played together in private circles. In 1994 the positive reaction they had received encouraged them to form a professional ensemble, specializing in the traditional Viennese music of the last century. Through the limits imposed by a string quartet and through their idiosyncretic interpretation the music of the JOHANN - STRAUSS - QUARTET - VIENNA lends the waltzes and polkas of Johann Strauss and Joseph Lanner a singular charme.
